The I. Church of Agioi Theodoros in Kato Vrontos is a typical example of a three-aisled, wooden-roofed basilica. Inside, a remarkable wood-carved iconostasis is preserved. It dates back to the first half of the 19th century.
The church is in the style of a three-aisled basilica, with a wooden roof with a gyneconite and a loggia on the west and part of the south side. Inside the church, important elements from the original decoration are preserved. The wood-carved iconostasis of the central aisle by expert craftsmen. The original images present on the iconostasis are preserved in a fairly good condition after a unique conservation that took place in 1974. The church used to have hagiographies, which were later plastered over. The vicar of the church, with the help of the Metropolitan and in cooperation with the tax office of Byzantine antiquities of Kavala, started restoration and highlighting of the church’s iconographic beauty. The bell tower in its original form was wooden until 1947-1950 when it was destroyed. In 2004, the new bell tower was built where it is today with the original church bells.
