Platanias Railway Station

The Station is located outside the settlement and first operated in 1896. It has also been designated as a monument by the Central Council of Modern Monuments. In 2020, after a devastating fire, its roof was completely burnt down, with the result that today it is considered dangerously dilapidated and abandoned.

The building has two floors and the ground floor hosts the station’s employees’ quarters, while the first floor is used as the Station Master’s residence. On the left side of the narrow side of the station from the side of the lines, there is a one-story building structure which served as a waiting area for passengers. It is a special use building and maintains its original morphological and structural elements, it is connected to the social and economic development of its area and is therefore important for the development of the area from a historical, cultural, cultural, economic and social point of view at the end of 19th and early 20th century.
