Holy Transfiguration Monastery of Sotiros

Just outside of Prasinada, on its holy rock, as the place is called, dominates the Holy Transfiguration Monastery of Sotiros, built on the ruins of a Byzantine Monastery, which was buried there for 8 centuries without anyone knowing of its existence (485 AD-1204 AD .X.).
In this location where the current monastery now stands, relics of Saints, who were martyred by the Crusaders in 1204 AD, were found. during the 4th Crusade.
On August 6, 1993, the day of the Transfiguration of the Savior, the first Divine Liturgy took place, after 800 years, in the new Holy Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
The Monastery that was built on the rock, where the old one was, beyond the Temple, has cells for the monks, while a two-story building was built next to it, on one floor there is the kitchen and bank and on the other, seven rooms. Accommodations for the workers, toilets and a reservoir for the collection of water were also built. The surrounding area was shaped, the road was paved, while another building started, between the slopes of the two hills, which was not completed.
