Mosque in the countryside

Mosque in the countryside

In the former Turkish village with few inhabitants and the central church of Agios Athanasios, an old mosque with a well-preserved mihrab, decorated with excellent folkloric floral motifs (which has been used as a stable for years) and the adjacent hammam, which, although given over to the ivy, stand out , preserves the characteristics of its architecture.
The mosque in the Countryside consists of the square main area covered by a low hemispherical dome with an octagonal externally blind drum. To the north is an attached semi-open-air portico, which is preserved in a dilapidated state. Inside, the once rich decoration is only partially preserved. The monument dates back to the early years of the Ottoman Empire.
