Every visit to the region of Nestos and the villages on the banks of the river cannot ignore the thermal baths of Thermia. Thermia is not the typical tourist destination and certainly not just another place with thermal waters.
In Thermia the visitor is in direct contact with nature as the “pools” are all open-air and most of the time they are simply closed with improvised constructions that allow both the air to enter but mainly the sounds of the Nestos River and its tributaries that flow just a few meters from the settlement. The most famous pool is the ‘Stroggili’.
As for the springs, the water comes from the mountain and through a network of pipes and hoses is distributed to the pools. The therapeutic indications of the water include Rheumatopathies, arthropathies, back pains, sciatica, diseases of the urinary tract of the back and biliary tract.
