In the area there are several settlements that housed a Muslim population during the period of Ottoman rule. Thus, with the exchange of populations in 1923, Refugee Hellenism settled among them, mainly engaged in agriculture.
The settlement of Kapnophytos is a representative sample of such a settlement, where 28 refugee families (115 people) settled. In the picture, you can see a typical building that housed the rural population and is preserved and in use to this day in very good condition.
